Xabi Alonso does everything on and off the pitch with style and panache.
He’s calm, effortlessly cool and measured – and more than often – gets it right.
The legendary Spaniard, who starred for us in between 2004 and 2009, has announced on Twitter today that he’s hanging up his boots – with this season going to be his last.
He could still go out with another Champions League win and an expected Bundesliga title for good measure.
Our only regret is that we only had him in for five years, because in the eight seasons since he’s left, he’s won titles and European Cups and we’ve won a League Cup.
‘Farewell beautiful game,’ the 35-year-old said.
Farewell Xabi Alonso.
Lived it. Loved it.
