Lazio star Senad Lulic has been responsible for the latest hint that Lucas Leiva’s proposed move to the Italian side is close.
The midfielder has hailed the long-serving Red’s valuable experience and highlighted just how key an addition the Brazilian will be.
“Lucas Leiva is a great player with a lot of experience. We have so many young players here that we need someone like him,” Lulic told Mediaset Premium.
“We await him with open arms and hope he arrives soon.”
Lucas is expected to complete his move in the coming days after it was announced on Friday Liverpool had accepted a £5million bid for the 30-year-old.
Bidding farewell to a man who has served this club superbly for over a decade is something Reds have suspected they would have to do for some time now, yet something few will be able to do without feeling sorry to see him go.
Over 10 years on Merseyside have made Lucas worthy of being dubbed Liverpool’s adopted Scouser. After a difficult start to life at Anfield, he has since grown to become an obvious favourite and someone that has taken the passion, the pride and the energy he has experienced across the city he can now call home, into performances on the pitch.
He has posed as the perfect role model for not only the club’s youth prospects, but also the new signings.
We, as all Reds do, wish him the very best in Italy.
