My opinion is that Rafa wants to boost the right back position so he is not stuck having to play Jamie Carragher in that position when Arbeloa is unavailable. With Both Johnson & Arbeloa there should be enough cover in that area.

Hello,
It’s my first reaction on this website…
First, thanks to exist: you’re great and all your news about LFC make me live in direct life of our club. So big big big thanks to antoine, michael, sam and all the others ;-)
Now my reaction and questions about this move.
Obviously Glen is a great player but:
1. The cost to make him come at anfield is not to high?
2. Who will be substitute: Glen or Alvaro ?
3. If Alvaro stay in LFC, couldn’t it be better let Alvaro be our right back and give a chance to a young player of our your squad ?
I’d be happy to have glen, but i think it’s too expensive. But i keep my faith in Rafa, he’s the man and he knows what to do. Just don’t want our small reserve of poor Pounds to be wasted in one move.
Sell dossena ! Sell Itandje ! Sell Cavalieri ! Sell Babel !

@Denis: here is the deal; 11.5 millions, not 18.5 Why, cos they still owe us some money for Crouch!!!!!!
Gives us more going forward and will compliment Kuyt on the right wing. With Dossena and possibly Arbeloa being sold at a profit, this is good business finanically by Liverpool.
13-14 million for Dossena and Arbeloa + 7 million owed for Crouch = 21 million
Basically Liverpool will be covered at a profit for this transfer essentially. Johnson has improved and he will only get better under the Benitez with the likes of Pellegrino giving him a defensive masterclass in training.
Glen may be an improved Player but he is not worth the price tag on hi. Alvaro is a superb player and having glen on the team will have him hit the bench for most games unless Benitez has other plans. My take is we need another good opptions up front and a good central midfielder to assist Skertel
i meant central defender in my last post
And if Arbeloa is not sold ?
Arbeloa has 1 year left on his contract…he is going to Real Madrid coz last year he wanted 2 return 2 Spain!
Glen b a great siGNING FAR BETTER THAN ARBELOA ynwa
