Liverpool and Madrid agree fee for Arbeloa

According to Marca Liverpool have agreed a fee with Real Madrid to send second-choice right-back Alvaro Arbeloa to the Bernabeu for a fee of 4 million Euros.

Rumours about the defenders future at the Anfield club have been floating around some time and sources in Spain have confirmed the two clubs, who met in last seasons European Cup, have agreed a fee today.

Sources close to Empire of the Kop have been told about the Spanish international wanting away from the Merseyside club since last summer but was convinced by reds’ boss Rafael Benitez to stay in the Capital of Culture as there was no suitable replacement available.

Arbeloa still needs to agree personal terms with big-spending Madrid although there is not expected to be any problems with many believing this is a dream move for the full-back.

Personally I would like to wish Alvaro good luck with the move.

  1. Good luck to him. He’s treated the club well throughout the speculation about his future. A really good full back who did a solid job for us……good luck ousting Sergio Ramos Alvaro

He’s in the last year of his contract….he would have been free to nogotiate with other clubs in January and left for nothing in the summer
