  1. I’m not sure I see what is wrong with Mark Lawrenson’s article. He makes the point that, assuming Torres has a good world cup, his value is likely to increase substantially. There are undoubtedly plenty of teams who would happily put him in their line up, and the fact remains that our club is in financial difficulties.

It’s been a poor season and quite frankly it doesn’t look like Rafa will be getting much help come the transfer season. When Torres came in we were all definitely thinking that Liverpool were on the right path to ending the drought. It hasn’t played out that way and frankly I don’t see too much to suggest that it is going to change in the near future. That has to be disappointing for players, let alone ones in the class of Gerrard, Torres, Reina etc.

Lawrenson isn’t saying that Torres will go but he does highlight the possibility, and it is however much we all don’t want it to be, that Torres could get sold to address the financial side of things.

  2. selling torres??why not throw in gerrard too?? and i can bet you that even if that amounts to $100 million pounds, it will be used to service the debts, NOT to improve the squad.

  3. I wonder how much would be available for transfers if we did get £100 mil for torres. £20 mil probably thanks to our money grabbing, gready owners.

  4. I have to adsmit, while I’m not defending Reira (his outburst was widely available, but who knows what actually happened at Melwood), it’s sad to see our only real wide player go now. And hopefully Rafa can find a younger replacement to fit the bill. Yes we have Kuyt, Babel and Maxi as options but they drift into the centre which has caused alot of our ‘problems’ this season. It leaves the defenders available to cover Torres and wind him up (which we have seen done ALL season) because they are not being stretched by these wingers.

Again I’m not defending Reira but watch him last year and how his off the ball movement (which no one noticed) was second to none pulling a defender away and leaving more room for Gerrard and Torres to play in the centre.

I’m gutted Jay Spearing is going off on loan, but glad he’ll get some time out there and head back full of confidence, he’s part of Liverpools future, and would have much prefered him to go to Tranmere to get the game time, help out the wools over the water!

Really excited to see Aurelio heading back soon, much prefer him to be playing instead of Insua IMO.

  5. The idea of selling Torres is not worth contemplating, but sadly it is something that we all need to consider. Is any player worth £100m? Even Ronaldo had his price. The worry would be that Rafa wouldn’t get to see much of the transfer fee, and this is why I think we should do everything we can to increase the pot without having to sell our top players.

Pepe & Javier look as if they will commit to new contracts and if we can keep Stevie and Torres we have a spine of a good team.

It is our squad players that we must look to in order to raise extra cash. Little Jay is out on loan – surely we can sell him on, as to be fair he’s not an LFC player.

Villa and Silva are up for sale and the media is talking about 50m for the pair – add these two to our team with a mix of up and coming talent – Pacheco and Kelly for example, and we have a great team in the making.

So, to our owners I would say dig deep, support our manager and help him rebuild. To Rafa, I would say sell wisely and plough the cash in the general direction of Valencia.

Or on the other hand, maybe I just live in the clouds!!
