I’m not one to stick up for Mark Lawrenson that often (his nails-on-chalkboard voice has ruined many a Pro Evo game for me, and his BBC punditry can be equally as annoying) but I’ll stick up for him on THIS occassion, because he isn’t saying that we SHOULD sell Torres, he’s just saying that it wouldn’t be doom and gloom IF we did – as we’d get a nice chunk of change in return.
I agree with you though Antoine, if we did sell him and get 50m in return, I’d be surprised if the Yanks gave us 10m of that.
Well, we have sold Benayoun, Insua and Riera for what I consider to be good money. Mascherano will probably leave too. On top of that I had read the Club had promised Stg 15 million as transfer funds. We are looking at Stg 15 million from the three players sold and another Stg 15 million made available, taking this to Stg 30 million. Masch will not leave for less than Stg 20 million if not more. We have bought quality players two of which have ocme on a free. I really am not as pessimistic as most and feel we will be able to make a couple of goods signings before the transfer window closes.
