Pepe Reina suffered a nightmare while playing for Spain in a friendly against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
The Liverpool stopper suffered 3 goals in a matter of 24 minutes with Lionel Messi opening the score in the 10th minute with a cheeky chip. Four minutes later Higuain went round Reina and was able to make it 2-0 from a tight angle. However Reina’s big howler came in the 24th minute when he slipped and Carlos Tevez was quick to capitalise and net home the third goal.
Pepe was substituted in the 2nd half, Fernando Llorente pulled one back in 84th minute for Spain however Sergio Aguero made it 4-1 in the 90th making it Spain’s biggest loss since August 2000
Pepe got the nod to start ahead of Iker Castillas for the World Champions and considering the backlash from the Spanish Press he might not play for Spain again. In Pepe’s defence the pitch was in horrible shape and the long flight to Buenos Aires was probably a factor too.
Below are the 3 goals that Pepe suffered.
Messi 10′
Higuain 14′
Tevez 34′

To be honest, the first two were fantastic finishes. In those situations, I’m not sure Casillas would have done much better.
And the slip, well, welcome to Reina’s world. File it away in the ‘___-happens’ section along with the random beach ball and this season’s rebound off the post against Arsenal.
Don’t worry Pepe.
Shit happens Pepe …

The first 2, especially Messi’s goal were world class, and there is little any keeper could do to change the outcome. That third goal was a howler, but as you say Sh!t Happens. Head up champ, your still number 1 to all your fans….
Pepe needs to get back to basics and train harder, hes started to look like he did when he first moved here. But spose all goalies make mistakes now and then even Clem and Brucie.
YNWA Pepe.
