4) Sami Hyypia (2000-2003)
Like Fowler, the centre-back filled in for Redknapp, and helped Liverpool enjoy a successful start to the new millennium. The legendary defender remained with the Reds until 2009, playing over 400 games.
3) John Barnes (1996-1997)
The winger enjoyed his fair share of success during his early days at Liverpool, and for the most part was unable to recreate that during his short spell as captain – which also marked the end of his Reds career. However, a young Jamie Carragher still labelled Barnes the best player he ever played with.
