Liverpool set for cash windfall due to unexpected sale of former midfielder

Liverpool are on the verge of pocketing £3.6m when Jonjo Shelvey completes his £12m move to Newcastle from Swansea.

When we sold the England international to the Welsh club in 2013, we inserted a 30% sell-on clause into the transfer deal, which now translates as £3.6m as Swansea are offloading the 23-year-old for a cool £12m.

Shelvey is a part of Roy Hodgson’s England squad, but has fallen down Alan Curtis’s Swansea pecking order after a recent fallout. As a result, Newcastle spotted their chance – and are gambling on the former Charlton man to save them from relegation.

Liverpool fans have fond memories of Shelvey, who always gave his all for the club, and once kicked off at Alex Ferguson following a red card!

He’s mighty talented too, and we wish him the best in the North East.
