Kolo Toure says Liverpool can “save their season” against Man Utd

Posted by

This season is rapidly turning into a dead rubber.

We’ve just lost the League Cup final, we’re out of the FA Cup, and we’re ninth in the Premier League – nine points behind fourth-placed Man City.

Admittedly, we could reduce that to six points with a win on Wednesday, but it still seems somewhat fanciful that we’ll be able to overtake Man City, Man Utd, West Ham, Southampton, and Stoke for a place in the top four.

It seems all our hopes rest on the Europa League, a tournament in which we’ve been drawn against Man Utd in the last 16.

Toure is adamant that the two-legged tie represents the last chance to save our 2015-16 campaign.

“The Europa League can save the season and the Premier League is not over yet,” he said (via Echo).

“It was a bad day [vs City] and we all feel down because we could have won. To lose on penalties is very harsh. City have experience and calmness. Their goalkeeper did amazingly for them.

“They have been in that kind of situation and you only learn by losing those sort of games. You have to learn to lose sometimes before you win. We learn as a team together”
