International Round-Up: Reds in action across Europe

Posted by

James Milner captained England for the first time as they were beaten 2-1 by The Netherlands in a friendly at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Milner was one of four of our players on show (via official site).

Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana both started, while Nathaniel Clyne came on as a second-half sub. The biggest positive for Reds fans was that Sturridge came through the game uninjured. It was his first England appearance in almost 600 days and although he was quiet, he will probably be on the plane to France.

Lallana was impressive, laying on the assist for Jamie Vardy’s opener.

Elsewhere in Europe, Sakho played 90 minutes for France as they beat Russia 4-2 and Emre Can won his fifth international cap as Germany beat Italy 4-1.

Finally, it was a mixed night for poor Martin Skrtel. He played a much needed 90 minutes as Slovakia drew 2-2 with the Republic of Ireland, but he gave away a penalty for one of Ireland’s goals.
