Video: Sami Hyypia mobbed by worshipping Liverpool fans in streets of Basel!

Some of the thousands and thousands of Liverpool supporters who have travelled to Basel for tonight’s Europa League final were given a pre-match treat when a Reds legend joined in the party.

Sami Hyypia, who was captain when we lifted the UEFA Cup in 2001 and made over 400 appearances for Liverpool, was mobbed by worshipping fans as he prepared for the game in the city centre.

The towering Finnish defender – the tall guy in the black shirt and sunglasses, just to be clear – had hoards of Liverpool fans singing his name and was happy to get in the thick of the action!

Hyypia has Swiss connections, having been sacked as FC Zurich manager as recently as last week. Hopefully Jurgen Klopp and the boys can cheer him up with a performance and night to remember.
