Mario Gotze dropped a bombshell on Liverpool’s apparent summer transfer plans this afternoon by indicating that he wants to stay at Bayern Munich.
The World Cup winner told German newspaper Bild that he is looking forward to next season and that he hopes to prove himself to incoming boss Carlo Ancelotti.

We have been heavily tipped to reunite the 23-year-old with his former Borussia Dortmund mentor Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, but this development comes as a setback.
Some supporters took the news of us potentially missing out on another marquee signing badly, but the majority of Liverpool fans on social media kept their cool.
Large sections of the Twitter Kop feel that we have more urgent transfer demands to focus on, and others are aware that this saga is not over three months before the deadline.
Gotze or not. Our most pertinent issues were/are: a GK, CB, DM. Defense and midfield a huge factor for years. Must be upgraded with quality.

Gotze saga isn’t over! He’s saying what he needs to say although I still feel other positions more important! LB and CB (if Sakho is damned)

Let’s be frank we don’t know anymore regarding Gotze than we did yesterday he’s given a standard media reply he’s still employed by Bayern .

Gotze would be a luxury to have but if we can’t have him its fine because we have to sort out the necessities which are GK LB CB CM #LFC

As much as I’d love Gotze, a GK, LB, CB and CM is a lot more important for our team, imo. Need to make sure we’re strong at the back!

Would have liked Gotze – who wouldn’t – but there other areas in need of strengthening as a priority. We move on #inkloppwetrust

Who says we’ve missed out on Gotze?? The window hasn’t even opened yet!!!!

This lack of panic is a testament to the trust that the whole Liverpool fanbase has in Klopp.
A year ago we would have been cursing the incompetence of our top brass, but, with Klopp at the helm, something tells us that…every little thing is going to be alright.
