New signing reveals Klopp inspired him to make the switch

It’s something we might get used to hearing over the coming months and years – “Klopp inspired me to join Liverpool”.

Regardless of how often we might hear it, it’s still music to our ears.

Loris Karius – our new goalie signed from Mainz – is the latest to allude to Klopp’s famous allure.

When asked by LFC TV in his first interview about how important his fellow countryman was in helping him make a decision, the 22-year-old was gushing in his praise:

“[Klopp was] a big factor. I spoke to him and I had a good feeling afterwards because he told me what he wants to do with the club and with the players. It was a good talk with him and after that I was convinced this was the right decision. He’s a big coach.

“He told me he knew Liverpool was a big club, but he actually realised how big it was when he came here. He didn’t realise until then, and even though he knew it was a big club, still when he came [here] he was surprised at how much bigger it is with all the fans supporting it and the special [feeling] this club has. He was really excited telling me all the stories.

“I am very excited to work with him. I know him a bit from playing against him in Germany. As a young player like me, he’s the right coach to do the next steps [in my career], to develop well and bring my game on. I’m sure he will help me, but it’s also on me.” (cited via official site).

He’s expected to miss the first three games of the season as he travels to Rio for the Olympics with Germany, but it’s widely thought that the number one spot is his for the taking if he can prove himself.
