Luis Suarez recalls brilliant Kolo Toure story; epitomises why Ivorian is so highly revered

Kolo Toure is probably underrated as a footballer. This guy won the Premier League with two different sides and came within inches of winning it with a third – during our title pursuit in 2013/14.

But oddly, it’s his endearing personality he’s perhaps best known for – and this story from Luis Suarez goes some way in explaining why.

When we threw away our three goal lead to Crystal Palace, effectively confirming our failure to secure the Premier League a few years back, the Uruguayan – so brilliant that season – was distraught…

Toure, an unused sub, led off him the field – and Suarez takes up the story from here:

Liverpool decided that after three seasons, we should release Toure, and despite offering him a coaching position, the defender has decided to find a different club and take advantage of the final few years left he has playing.

Monaco in Ligue 1 have expressed an interest already, which for us, sounds like a mighty fine way to wind down a stellar career!
