Premier League side keen to give struggling Liverpool star an exit

Crystal Palace are apparently among a number of clubs looking at the possibility of giving Christian Benteke a route out of Anfield this summer, with the Belgian looking to force his way out due to a lack of regular football (via the Daily Star).

Benteke isn’t a bad player by any stretch, but he’s struggled since his arrival at Liverpool for both form and football. He’s unfortunately ill suited to our style of play, and it would probably therefore be in both his and our best interests to part ways this summer.

Palace boss Alan Pardew is understandably looking to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season, with his current strikers firing blanks for most of last season. Benteke would probably prove a good signing for Palace, but do they have any chance of signing him?

Having signed Benteke from Aston Villa for a hefty £32.5m (via the Daily Star), we’ll be wanting to recoup some of our losses this summer. Palace aren’t exactly rolling in money, so they might not be able to meet our asking price. There would be question marks over whether Benteke would want to take such a step down again too, although the lure of guaranteed regular first-team football could be a big draw.

It does seem like Benteke’s time at Liverpool is up, but with a couple of other clubs sniffing around it’s hard to see him signing for Palace and Pardew.
