The UK’s politicians can’t agree on what do to post-Brexit, and the UK’s former footballers can’t agree on what to do post-Hodgson.

Earlier today, Robbie Fowler backed Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for the England job (via Echo), but his views have been contracted by Jamie Carragher, who think former Germany manager Jurgen Klinsmann would be the best fit (via Daily Mail).

Klinsmann just lead the United States to an unexpected fourth-place finish in this summer’s Copa America, and Carragher thinks he understands the English game better than most.

“[Jurgen] has been to a World Cup semi-final with Germany, a Copa America semi-final with the United States and knows our game,” wrote Carragher in his column.

“Shearer’s patriotism is admirable but there is more to being a successful manager than just patriotism and emotion.

“There can be no complaints if the FA look to a foreign coach. With that in mind, I wouldn’t knock the idea of appointing Klinsmann”
