Well, some sections of the fanbase used to criticise Brendan Rodgers for playing players out of position, but it’s fair to say he never pulled a stunt like this.

We were leading 1-0 midway through the second half against Huddersfield Town in our friendly tonight when Lucas’ number went up on the fourth official’s board.

Nothing strange so far…

But his replacement? None other than 18-year-old goalkeeper Shamal George! He didn’t even have an outfield shirt with his name on (shocking that the kit man didn’t have that eventuality covered!). (via Echo)

In fairness, Klopp was forced into the move with Lucas looking like he was limping before being withdrawn. We had no other subs remaining.

The incident brought back memories of Pepe Reina playing outfield in a friendly back in 2006 in a friendly against Kaiserslautern. (via Echo).

We were actually given a penalty when George was on the pitch, but despite hopes of a goal for Shamal, Moreno stepped up to hammer it home.

We won the game 2-0.
