Going on loan can be a testing time for a player. The theory is that you’ll go away, get a season of regular first team football, then return to your parent club in a blaze of glory to nab a place in the first eleven.
But it doesn’t always work out like that – just ask Andre Wisdom. Or Jay Spearing. Or Jack Robinson. The list is endless.
There is a case of ‘out of sight, out of mind’. And if you’re not at the club, you can’t leap on opportunities which will inevitably arrive through injuries and suspensions to other players.

Such is the decision that local lad Jon Flanagan has been weighing up in the last few days. It now seems like he will head out to Burnley on loan – but could his Liverpool career thus be at an end?
Reds around the world have been having their say:

Reports suggest #LFC defender @jon_flan93 is having a medical at Burnley ahead of a loan move. Mistake in my opinion.
