Be honest, how many of you ever thought that Gonzalo Higuain would be lining up alongside Daniel Sturridge at the Emirates in three weeks time?

Still, it’s nice to dream, isn’t it?

The rumours, which began with Klopp supposedly scouting the player at the Copa America (via Mirror) (spoiler alert — he was just on his holidays (via Echo)), rumbled on all summer.

However, if it wasn’t already clear, those rumours are now officially dead in the water. The 28-year-old, who bagged 71 goals in 104 Serie A games for Napoli, has joined Juventus in a deal reported to be worth a massive £75.3 million (via BBC).

There was no way we were going to pay that much, was there?

The deal will become the third largest in history, bettered only by Gareth Bale’s £85 million move to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo’s £80 million switch to the same club.

Last season the Argentinian international scored 36 league goals. It’s only the second time this century that a player has scored more than 30 in Italy’s top flight (the other was Luca Toni in 2006).
