Our U23 side will face Porto, Wolfsburg, and Leicester City in the first round of the Premier League International Cup (via official site).

The 24-team competition puts 12 English U23 sides up against 12 of the best European U23 sides. It was unveiled by the Premier League two years ago as a part of their Elite Player Performance Plan.

Man City won the inaugural title in 2015, while Villareal won last season’s silverware.

The teams are split into four groups of four with the top two progressing to the single-leg knockout round, along with some of the best third-place sides. This is the first season with 24 teams, the first two competitions only featured 16 sides.

We didn’t feature in the inaugural championship and were knocked out in the groups last season.
