Loris Karius will have surgery on his broken hand with the next 72 hours.

According to the Daily Mail, that means he will go under the knife no later than Monday night.

Dom King writes that he has now left the rest of the first team squad in the United States and has flown back to Liverpool.

The German stopper broke a bone in his hand after a freak collision with Dejan Lovren in Wednesday night’s 1-0 friendly loss to Chelsea.

It’s a huge blow for Klopp – his new stopper had played in all five friendlies so far, conceding just one goal.

He will be out for around two months, meaning we won’t see him in first team action until well into October.
