Carragher has absolutely slaughtered Balotelli

Mario Balotelli isn’t needed at Liverpool and is very, very much for sale.

The Italian striker has completely flopped since his £16m move from AC Milan in 2014 – scoring one Premier League goal in his debut season and just one Serie A goal back on loan at Milan last term.

Jurgen Klopp has told him to find a new club, but as of yet, there’s been no suitors willing to pay his high wages and whatever price it is Liverpool are demanding…

Jamie Carragher, our legendary former defender, has made his feelings on the forward very clear…

“I couldn’t believe Liverpool signed him, to be honest,” said the ex-Reds defender, reported in the Echo.

“With every signing, you’re never quite sure. You hope it goes well, you hope it goes wrong for certain other clubs when they sign someone.

“But Mario Balotelli, I couldn’t believe we signed him. He’s one of the most overrated players I’ve seen in my life.”

For us, we can’t massively disagree with Carra’s comments. The forward has broken double figures for goals in a season just twice, and at 26, that’s pretty damning – regardless of how ‘talented’ he is.

Our task now, of course, is to get rid. We can’t imagine someone will part with cash for Balotelli, which means we’ll likely sanction a loan deal to a Serie A club at the end of the month.

His contract is up next summer and we predict he’ll run it out and become a free agent. Balotelli is troubled but we actually think he’s a pretty good person. He’s just never really proven himself to be a consistently top level footballer.
