Loris Karius will make his debut against Derby County, says Klopp

Loris Karius will make his competitive debut tomorrow night as Liverpool travel to Derby County for a clash in the Third Round of the League Cup.

Karius was signed from Mainz in the summer and looked set to start the season as number one, but a broken hand sustained against Chelsea during our tour of the USA ended his dream.

He was initially ruled out for ten weeks but confounded expectations to return to training a couple weeks ago.

Simon Mignolet’s ongoing good form has kept him out of the side since his return, but according to Klopp, he will finally be given his chance to shine tomorrow evening.

“If nothing happens, Loris will play,” Klopp said.

“Loris had an advantage in pre-season and he could not use it because of the injury. Simon came in this moment back from the national team and did a brilliant job.

“There is no No 1 at this moment.” (Echo)
