The 50 most powerful people in English football named by Telegraph; Harry Kane over John W. Henry

This is a downright strange list which to us, just doesn’t make any sense in many circumstances!

The Telegraph have tried to rank the 50 most powerful people in English football today. That’s including players, managers, owners, pundits – anyone at all – who has an influence on the state of the modern game.

You can read the full, unpaginated list, here.

In terms of Liverpool involvement, three names make the list, our owner John W. Henry, former defender Jamie Carragher and manager Jurgen Klopp – in that order – too.

Henry is positioned only 34th, despite having just overseen the construction of an increase in capacity to the most famous stadium in the country. Tottenham’s Harry Kane, at 31, somehow comes three spots ahead…

Carragher is now an outspoken pundit on Monday Night Football and has a column in the Daily Mail too, so the Telegraph have positioned him 26th, because ‘what he says resonates in dressing rooms as much as living rooms’. Interesting.

Klopp is the top billed Red, coming in 9th, just ahead of Rupert Murdoch, Mino Raiola, Gary Lineker and Wayne Rooney. The only managers ahead of him are Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, but we’ll see how long that lasts.

In fairness, creating this list ‘fairly’ would have been basically impossible, but it’s a really interesting read nonetheless.
