Klavan plays a full 90 minutes as Estonia demolish Gibraltar

Posted by

Our summer signing Ragnar Klavan was in action for Estonia this weekend as the Baltic outfit thrashed European football new boys Gibraltar 4-0 in Tallinn.

The result has left them fourth in Group H after two games. They were battered 5-0 by Bosnia in their opening match a month ago.

It’s hugely unlikely that we’ll see Klavan and co. in Russia in 2018. They are in a group with Belgium and Greece, and only the top side from each of the nine groups will qualify automatically. The eight best second-place sides will go into a playoff.

Considering Gibraltar’s minnow status, it took Estonia a while to get going. The breakthrough didn’t arrive until after half-time when Kait put them ahead. The second arrived in the 52nd minute through Vassiljev, then Kait got his second of the night with 20 minutes to go. Mošnikov wrapped up the win in the dying moments. (Soccerway)

Did you see the game? How did Klavan play?
