Sky Sports name four January Liverpool transfer targets; including nomadic Genoa striker

Why are Sky Sports genuinely using Football Whispers as a proper transfer source?

At Empire of the Kop, we find it baffling. For those who don’t know, Football Whispers uses an algorithm to calculate the likelihood of certain transfer rumours, but from what we saw in the summer, it might as well be complete guess work.

Time and time again they told us that players were practically certain to join Liverpool, but the club in fact held no interest in them whatsoever.

But here we are at the beginning of October and Sky Sports, a usually trusted outlet, has published a piece entitled: Liverpool’s January Transfer Targets, and then listed four names.

Below, are the players, their information and the ‘Football Whispers’ rating!

Niklas Sule

Position: Centre-back

Highest Football Whispers Rating:  3.6 (23rd May 2016)

Michael Keane

Current Club: Burnley

Current Football Whispers Rating: 1.0

Leandro Pavoletti

Geoffrey Kondogbia

Honestly, it’s a load of rubbish in our eyes. We know Klopp holds a genuine interest in Mahmoud Dahoud and Christian Pulisic (via Tony Barrett in Joe), but there’s been no trusted links to any of these four players mentioned – and we saw earlier this year that our manager holds little interest in January business anyway.

After our hectic summer, expect only a handful or players in and out in coming windows – the sign of a balanced and winning club.
