Carragher backs Liverpool for win – but he doesn’t sound confident

Jamie Carragher has backed Liverpool for a win over Man Utd when the two sides meet at Anfield on Monday night.

It’s the first meeting between the two rivals since Jose Mourinho took over at Old Trafford and it’s sure to be a tempestuous affair.

But Carra thinks he knows exactly what we can expect — this is a Jose Mourinho team after all! And that seems to worry him a tad…

“I think Liverpool have to go in as slight favourites because of the start we’ve made and because we’re at home, but we thought that last season and United got a 1-0 win at Anfield,” Carragher told United’s website.

“I’m sure Jose Mourinho will be looking for the same result. Even though he’s never managed in a Liverpool/Man United game before, his rivalry with Liverpool when he was Chelsea manager was pretty big so he’ll be well aware of the atmosphere at Anfield.”

Mourinho was arguably the man responsible for killing our title dreams in 2014. He brought his Chelsea side to Anfield and parked the bus in a way it’s never been parked before. From the first minute they were time wasting, slowing the game down, and being generally annoying.

They went on to win 2-0.

That said – we’ve still got that 2005 Champions League semi-final in the bag, haven’t we?! It’d be so sweet to send him back to Manchester with his tail firmly down between his legs on Monday night…
