Dejan Lovren is the latest Liverpool player to showcase the winning mentality that has seen this team express itself so freely this season.
The defender is confident that his side has what it takes to come out on top in Monday night’s crucial Merseyside derby clash with Everton.
Lovren will play in his first derby game away against the Toffees having missed last season’s trip to Goodison Park due to an ankle injury.
Speaking ahead of the game, he told the Liverpool Echo: “I won’t say we are in better form but when you see our players we have the quality to score whenever we want.”
“We have a lot of opportunities during games. We are the most creative team in the Premier League with so many chances.”
“It’s always a special game against Everton. It will be a pleasure to play in this game. They are tough games but we’ve had some good results against them in previous years.”
A derby game always promises to be a tough no matter what kind of form the two sides are in.
Lovren is an example of the players knowing what they are capable of this season and the expectations that they have of themselves. There is a healthy arrogance to the way in which we believe we can score at any time and take control of the game whenever we want.
Monday night is key if we are to rebuild some momentum after a difficult few weeks.
