Liverpool fans are furious with PFA Player of the Year shortlist

The Premier League has released the six-man shortlist for the PFA Premier League Player of the year award.

As you can see in the below tweet, it features Eden Hazard, N’Golo Kante, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Harry Kane.

But many Reds thinks Sadio Mane’s exclusion is unfair and have taken to Twitter to air their disappointment.

So which of the listed players does Mane have a fair chance of replacing? Well Chelsea are waltzing to the title, and Hazard has similar stats to the Senegalese with 14 goals and five assists, so rightly deserves his spot. Kante too has been a revelation and we truly wish Liverpool had made a bid last summer for the Frenchman who’s about to a consecutive title.

Lukaku and Kane are worthy due to them both enjoying 20 goal + seasons. Sanchez has 18 goals and nine assists, which is better than Mane’s 13 and five.

Ibrahimovic might be the only one we can see Mane being more deserving than, actually. The Swedish talisman has 17 Premier League goals, but the fact he’s notched 28 overall definitely helps him, even though it’s supposed to be based only on what happens domestically.

So although it pains us to say it, we’re not sure any Reds deserve inclusion this term, although if Coutinho and Mane had been available all year, they’d have very good shouts.
