Liverpool representatives met with Real Madrid star Isco’s father before he signed a contract extension with Los Blancos.

Marca claim that the 25-year-old was weighing up his options due to the fact he’s not an automatic starter at the Bernabeu, especially with Marco Asensio making such strides in a similar role.

The report suggests that Isco’s dad Paco Alarcon also met with Manchester City and Juventus, but in the end decided to renew his terms with the Champions League holders.

Zidane convinced Isco of his long-term future and the Spanish international’s new deal runs out in 2022, making any chance of Liverpool acquiring him this summer very slim.

Isco’s a tremendous player, but he’s of a similar ilk to Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino, when it’s pace and power we really need in the forward line…

At the end of this season, it’s crucial we target wingers of Sadio Mane’s ilk, as it’s been the Senegalese who’s most often provided match-winning contributions this campaign.
