England’s magnificent U20 World Cup final win over Venezuela proved to be a particularly pleasing occasion for Liverpool fans thanks to the involvement of Dominic Solanke, who will complete his move to Anfield on July 1, and Sheyi Ojo.
A 1-0 win saw an England team crowned world champions for the first time since 1966 and was followed by Solanke adding his name to a star-studded list of Golden Ball winners, an honour awarded to the tournament’s best player.
The striker proved to be an influential figure for his country throughout the competition and introduced himself to Liverpool fans in stylish fashion ahead of his summer transfer.
While all eyes had been initially fixated on Solanke, another impressive cameo from Ojo also caught the eye. The Reds winger followed up his sparkling second half performance in the semi-final win over Italy with a similarly bright display, helping England regain control of the game at a time when Venezuela were pushing for an equaliser.
It was one mesmerising run in particular that caught the eye, though, with Ojo showcasing his incredible pace to beat his marker in a race he had no right to win.
Ojo’s acceleration is still insane after back-to-back injuries. Would love to see him and Mane in a foot race. pic.twitter.com/8bDL0LWGlo
