It’s silly season, alright…
Last night, Liverpool were tediously linked with an interest in Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, although in truth, we think the story is bogus.

The article was penned by Diario Gol, who suggest that with Marco Asensio signing a bumper new deal at El Bernabeu, Benzema’s game-time will be limited next season and the forward wants a transfer elsewhere as a result.
They say PSG, Arsenal and ourselves are circling – but the 29-year-old really doesn’t fit Jurgen Klopp’s bill.
He doesn’t track, work and is pretty slow – and would not fit in the dynamic, selfless frontline Liverpool’s manager has tried to create. What’s more, his 17 goals last season is hardly awe-inspiring considering the talent around him and the matches he played.
Our manager prefers Roberto Firmino as a centre-forward to Daniel Sturridge (rightly or wrongly), so it’s pretty clear the kind of footballer he likes in offensive areas.
Benzema will also be on ludicrous wages and would command a hefty transfer fee too, having just won his third Champions League in four years.
A great player, but not someone who’s going to help Liverpool now or in the future.
