LFC news: Van Dijk wants ‘new opportunities’; ‘right people chasing me’

Virgil van Dijk wants to leave Southampton.

That much has been made very obvious by the fact he met Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season and agreed to sign – only for his club to report Liverpool to the Premier League for an illegal approach.

But since, the Dutchman has seemed to sulk, giving no interviews about his future and continually dropped hints via his social media that he’s unhappy.

Last night, he liked two tweets, one of which said: “I expect wonderful things to happen,” and the other suggesting: “The right people are searching me out. New opportunities new levels in my future”.

Now, it could be that van Dijk’s just into star signs and basic astrology, but we think the implication is pretty obvious…

Annoyingly for Liverpool, Arsenal are also now interested in the 25-year-old, claim multiple reports, and the Saints would undoubtedly prefer to sell to the Gunners.

Our only chance of acquiring van Dijk is that he hands in a transfer request and tells Southampton we’re the only club he’ll join.
