Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain speaks – ‘I’m delighted, but I can’t say much’

Liverpool have completed the deal to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, officially.

The £35m transfer has just been announced by the club and the player himself has given a short statement:

“I’m currently away with England, so I’m at St George’s Park. Firstly, I’m delighted to have signed for Liverpool and a big thank-you to everyone here at the FA that has made this possible, using the facilities. It has been a massive help,” he told the official website.

“I’m not going to say too much today; I’m here with England and we’ve got two big games coming up, so I want to focus on them. But I can’t wait to get to Melwood and you’ll hear first from me on LFCTV.”

Short but sweet, Alex!

The 24-year-old has his best years ahead of him and was so keen to join Jurgen Klopp’s revolution that he rejected Arsenal’s extension and Chelsea’s bumper deal.

Under our German, he’s likely to be given the chance to play in his favoured central midfield role, where hopefully his speed and skill can aid our quick transitionary football.

We’re excited to see him in the next two matches and expect him to be part of the match-day squad for the Manchester City clash after the international break.
