What happened when Divock Origi played for Wolfsburg vs Schalke on Saturday

Divock Origi was the hero on Saturday as he rescued a late 1-1 draw for Wolfsburg against Schalke in their Bundesliga clash.

The Belgian striker scored an injury-time equaliser to help his temporary employers to their fifth league draw in a row.

It was the Liverpool man’s third goal in seven starts for the German club, where he is currently plying his trade on loan as an attempt to rediscover his top form.

Though the forward has scored better and will go on to score better goals in his career, it was another positive stride for a man who thrives on confidence boosts.

As it stands, the plan is for the 22-year-old to return to Anfield at the end of his deal with valuable playing time and experience under his belt.

Origi displayed glimpses of his talent early on in Klopp’s reign, but saw his progress hindered by a shocking challenge from Everton’s Ramiro Funes Mori that saw him endure a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

He has since struggled to find any rhythm and subsequently fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and even Dominic Solanke.

Klopp will be hoping the former Lille man can reach double figures before returning to Merseyside next summer.
