Former Liverpool star Luis Suarez wants Coutinho to join him at Barcelona, as do most of their players, in truth.
The Uruguayan has branded Coutinho and fellow Barca transfer target Antoine Griezmann ‘elite’ – with formal bids expected in upcoming transfer windows.
“Both Griezmann and Coutinho are elite players that are playing at the top level,” Suarez told RAC105, cited in Sky Sports.
“They are where they are for a reason. They’re both young and have long careers ahead of them. And Barca always want the best players.”
We’d hope that Suarez, having played for Liverpool, would keep quiet on this one, but he’s never been one to think of the supporters’ feelings in the media.
While at Liverpool, he made countless public comments about wanting out – eventually being granted his wish in summer 2014.
Liverpool flatly refused to sell Coutinho this summer, but we expect the Brazilian to leave at the end of this season.
It would be smart for Liverpool to wait until after the World Cup when our no.10’s value could be maximised. Hopefully, we’ll have a top level replacement ready in time.
