Another day, another link to an exciting Coutinho replacement that fills us with doubt as to the validity of the report!

The English press are all over it, including the Echo, but the original source appears to be the bullsh*t artists Don Balon.

LFC’s interest in James Rodriguez confirmed by famous Spanish journalist

They claim that Liverpool have spoken to James Rodriguez’s agents about the possibility of bringing the Colombian to Anfield.

The 26-year-old has shone for Bayern Munich on loan from Real Madrid this term, but that makes any prospective deal tricky.

The Germans have Rodriguez on loan until 2020, so we’d have to get them to agree to cut the deal short, via payment, then negotiate a separate deal with Real Madrid, who according to the report will cost £70m-odd.

Rodriguez is an unbelievable player, in short, and if we knew we were losing Coutinho early in summer 2017, perhaps we could have acquired him before Bayern did.

However, there’s just too many obstacles to succumb, in our opinion. And he’s doing too well in Germany for Bayern to allow his early exit.
