Gini Wijnaldum signed for an English club in the summer of 2015, joining Newcastle from PSV.
After one year Jurgen Klopp bought him from the relegated Magpies.
But tonight against Roma was the first time he’s scored a goal away from an English club in that period!
The Dutchman chose to do so against AS Roma in the Champions League, making it 2-1 on the night and 7-3 on aggregate, a surely insurmountable scoreline.
Liverpool’s corner was poorly cleared by the shoddy Italian defence and Gini nodded home with only his second effort of the campaign.
He was exceptional last week and we’re delighted with his contribution again.
What an underrated player!
