Liverpool have made our first official offer to Lyon for their club captain Nabil Fekir, reports Le Parisien.

The French outlet, one of those with their ear to the ground on the transfer originally, reckons the Reds have submitted a formal €60m (£52.66m) bid for the 24-year-old.

Fekir is the first-choice playmaker to directly replace Coutinho at Anfield, with the Brazilian departing for a monumental sum back in January.

We still made it to the Champions League Final and put in some breathtaking performances after his exit, but our midfield regularly lacked creativity and it’s a role that needs attention before 2018/19.

Le Parisien reckon Lyon will reject the first offer, but that a deal could be finalised before the World Cup begins in two weeks’ time.

We’re hopeful of securing Fekir, who would become our third signing of the summer after wrapping up deals for Fabinho and Naby Keita already.

That’s potentially an entirely new midfield trio at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal – and a mouthwatering one at that…
