Liverpool make decision that seemed impossible one month ago…

With the likes of Alisson and Jan Oblak so far unattainable, Jurgen Klopp has decided to go into the new season with Loris Karius as Liverpool’s no.1 goalkeeper.

That’s according to Dave Maddock in the Mirror, anyway.

He says that like with Virgil van Dijk, Klopp will wait until one of his primary targets is available – having been pleased with Karius all the way up until the Champions League Final – which he cost us almost singlehandedly.

FIFPro have made a statement on Ramos/Karius concussion incident

After our loss to Real Madrid, it seemed inconceivable that Karius would play for the club again.

He may have been suffering from concussion, but his two errors were the type that few could come back from.

Klopp remaining loyal though is a testament to the manager’s character, even if in truth, we find the decision quite frustrating.

A potential title challenge in 2017/18 was ruined by horrible defensive lapses early on in the campaign, when we decided against buying a temporary van Dijk alternative.

We’ve not had a top goalkeeper under Klopp, who’s about to enter his fourth season in charge, and we consider the position somewhat of a blindspot for the boss.

Having said that, we should trust his judgement when it comes to the transfer market. He’s proven time and time again that he knows what he’s doing – so it’s not our job to question – but support.
