Alisson, not just a world-class goalkeeper, but a world-class guy, too!
According to UOL, a respected outlet in Brazil, Liverpool’s new goalkeeper refused to take Loris Karius’s no.1 shirt and instead was happy to go with no.13, while the German is still at the club.
Alisson wore #AB1 on his gloves last season and naturally would take the traditional keeper’s number if it was on offer, but he’s decided against for now.
This may change if Karius is sold before the end of August, but it’s nice to see Alisson, who’s the world’s most expensive stopper, making such an effort with his new team-mates – even if he is taking their spot in the side…
There is absolutely no doubt that Alisson will start for Liverpool in the Premier League and Champions League this term – although we’d actually give him the role in the League Cup and FA Cup too.
After all – we need silverware – and a goalkeeper doesn’t need rest and recuperation like an outfield player would.
We have a feeling Jurgen Klopp will still bring somebody else in; after all – he likes keeping the group happy and together – but we think if you’ve got a goalkeeper of Alisson’s ilk available and not at risk of losing fitness – use him.
