FIFA have picked a weird Salah goal for Puskas award

Mo Salah was today announced as one of the ten nominees for the Puskas Award, given to the player who scores the best goal of the year – from anywhere around the world in any competition.

We would have assumed the committee had picked his effort against Spurs, his dribbling goal v Watford or maybe his curler v AS Roma – but they’ve actually picked his opener v Everton from the back end of 2017.

Don’t get us wrong, it was a lovely goal – but definitely isn’t the best he’s scored in red!

What’s more, the Egyptian has a good chance of winning, such is his unbelievable popularity worldwide and the force in which his fans come out and back him in public votes!
