According to the Evening Standard’s Liverpool correspondent David Lynch, Lyon were one of a number of clubs that wanted Dom Solanke over the summer.
As well as the French giants, Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Rangers made enquiries about securing the England international on loan – but Liverpool rejected all their advances.

According to Lynch, Liverpool believe Solanke is best served staying at Anfield and fighting for minutes, despite the fact he’s not yet been named on a Premier League bench this season.
We’ll find out throughout the next month if this proves to be correct, with Liverpool’s fixture schedule ramping up before another irritating international break in October.
Hopefully Liverpool stay in the EFL Cup, as it’ll be the best chance of our fringe players appearing regularly.
Unless there’s injuries, which we obviously hope there isn’t, Solanke’s chances of first-team football is slim, considering Daniel Sturridge is now ahead of him in the pecking order and Roberto Firmino is obviously our primary option.
