21-year-old Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, a reported target for both the Reds and Arsenal, says he would only leave his current club because of ambition, not money.
According to Calciomercato.com, he said: “If and when I have to leave, it will never be for money, but only for ambition. I do not care about Ferrari or the super penthouse; I do not play football to buy myself a beautiful car.”
The Italian youngster has scored once in eight games so far this season, and his attitude is exactly the right one for a young player.
Whether Jurgen Klopp is seriously interested in bringing him to Anfield or not, we will have to wait and see, but he certainly fits in with the Reds’ ethos. For now, the rumours will rumble on.
