Khabib, fresh off his easy victory over Connor Mcgregor in UFC 229 for the lightweight title, has spoken about his admiration for Mo Salah.
Like Salah, Khabib is a muslim, preaches respect and is given God-like status in his home country.
Both of course are at the very top of their respective sports.
“I never met him before but I follow him, he is a great player and we need more people like him to reflect our ethics and present us properly to the rest of the world,” the fighter told Al Ittihad newspaper, cited by King Fut.
“He made a name of himself because he is disciplined. I feel that Allah is by his side. The new generations need those who are like Mohamed Salah to learn more about how you can be modest, no matter how famous and innovative you are.
“He’s an icon that we should take care of and help reach more success. I admire him and admire the ethics he is spreading every day in Europe.”
Salah is a brilliant role-model both on and off the field.
Unlike many modern footballers, Salah is humble and a family man – and deserves everything he’s got out of the game to date.
Last season, Salah scored 44 goals in total and as a result, is a frontrunner for 2018’s Ballon D’or, although he’s likely to be pipped to the post by Lionel Messi, Luka Modric or Cristiano Ronaldo.
The media have suggested Salah has started this campaign slowly, but he’s already on seven goals for the campaign and we think his performances this term will result in silverware.
Hopefully he’ll notch again versus Arsenal and help us maintain our spot at the top of the Premier League table.
