Virgil van Dijk has been showered with praise once more, but this time from an unlikely source in Roy Keane.
The former Manchester United midfielder is not normally one to raise a smile towards anyone, but even he couldn’t hide his admiration for the Netherlands centre-half.
Keane told Sky Sports: “Outstanding. When they bought him, you think that’s a lot of money, but he looks pretty cheap.
“He’s made the players around him better – that’s what great players do. He’s got the full package.”
Asked whether he is the best in the Premier League right now, the former United man said: “Without a doubt.”
Graeme Souness added: “I think he’s the best one out there that I can think of. I don’t think there’s anyone else that has all those attributes.”
Van Dijk is definitely the best in the league right now – if not the world. The only thing he doesn’t do is score – perhaps that will change today against Keane’s former club.
