Bournemouth star out with weird injury before Liverpool clash

Eddie Howe has explained how David Brooks will miss Saturday’s match with Liverpool, after injuring himself mid-celebration.

The Wales international has been excellent this term, but will now miss the Premier League game with us in five days’ time.

“David injured his ankle scoring against Chelsea. It was a strange injury, he didn’t feel it kicking the ball but felt in the celebration that he injured himself,” he said, reported in the Echo.

Brooks’ absence from the starting XI means Dom Solanke may play against his former club, having so far played just 62 minutes since his £19m January switch.

Liverpool of course have plenty of our own injury problems to worry about.

Thankfully Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to return at right-back, but Joe Gomez remains sidelined after surgery, so Joel Matip should continue alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum missed the West Ham draw, but will both be hopeful of returning – at least to the match-day squad.

It’ll be vital for us to get back on winning ways, especially with Manchester City expected to increase the pressure on us mid-week.
