Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is likely to play for the U23s on Monday against Everton, Neil Jones has claimed in Goal.

If not, then the midfielder will get a chance in the U23 fixture with Derby later in the week instead.

The Englishman hasn’t played for 11 months now, after rupturing his ACL in the Champions League semi-final with AS Roma last season – but his long journey to recovery is almost over.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been training with his team-mates at Melwood for over a month – and Liverpool’s management thinks it’s time to put him on the football field proper.

We just really hope he comes through unscathed, as there’s no expectations on his performance just yet.

After a couple of U23 fixtures, providing everything goes well, we can expect Ox on Jurgen Klopp’s first-team bench.

We reckon that the Bayern Munich game on the 13th could actually be the first time he’s included in a Match-Day squad – which would be unbelievable.
