Liverpool starting XI v Porto: Lovren returns for UCL clash

Posted by

Jurgen Klopp has included Dejan Lovren in Liverpool’s starting team to face Porto in the first leg of our Champions League quarter-final.

The Croatian is preferred over Joel Matip – who has played well during the defence’s injury bout and deserves a rest – and Joe Gomez makes the bench.

Alisson starts between the sticks and Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and James Milner make up the defensive set up.

Naby Keita keeps his place in the squad after an impressive display against Southampton in the Premier League over the weekend.

In the midfield is the more defensively minded Fabinho and Jordan Henderson; the duo should allow Keita more freedom to put in another glittering shift.

Gini Wijnaldum seems to have been rested ahead of the upcoming clash with Chelsea.

Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino, as expected, make up the front three.

The Reds will be looking for a strong win tonight as Porto isn’t the easiest of places to play out a vital second leg.
